I'm 5'2", 125 lbs, athletic build with broad shoulders and large hips/thighs. I purchased a small based off reviews but need to return for a medium. Just with a t-shirt on it's too small across the shoulders and the sleeves are short. I can't lift my arms without it feeling tight and no way I'd have extra room for layers. The trunk of the coat is plenty roomy and has that relaxed/baggy/boyfriend fit. Just has tight shoulders and short sleeves, so I'm really hoping the medium works. This is quite a pricey jacket for having zero features. It has the most basic of things...hand pockets. I don't see the chest pockets being super useful. No two way zip and no internal pocket. All in all, really cute jacket and I'd still like to keep it for the style. But definitely doesn't have any bells and whistles. Not sure if I'll keep the medium even, but I am glad I purchased it on sale!
Patagonia makes great products and this one is no different. It is beautifully made and stylish. I'm writing this review for folks who are mainly interested in sizing. I am someone who can either be a small or a medium in a lot of products. I would say that Patagonia mediums often feel slightly oversize on me. I tried on both the medium and small for this product and both of them worked for me in different ways.
I bought this jacket a few years ago and feel I can now give it a proper review. This jacket is awesome. I live in the Twin Cities and need my jackets to stand up to the harsh winters and my active lifestyle. I'm 5'7, roughly 125 lbs, and I purchased the size small. I have a 1.5 mile walking commute to my office at the UMN. This jacket pairs well on its own most days. When the temp really drops, I layer up with either my better sweater, insulated vest, or nano puff underneath. And I'm typically feeling pretty toasty by the time I get to work and when walking around campus. Highly recommend.
I got one of these parkas last year but while traveling to NYC a few days ago, someone stole it from the luggage rack. Where I live, temps are 40s a lot in winter. This coat is perfect. It's pretty long - longer than most of the heavier coats. So it protects me when it rains on my way home from work. No logos on the outside - if you like that. I do. It's big enough to accommodate a heavy sweater underneath. Just my favorite coat. I hope the person who stole my original gets a lot off use out of it.
I finally decided to splurge and get a decent winter coat. It is very warm and a good winter coat! I usually wear a M in Patagonia clothing and it fit perfectly with some room for me to wear a sweater under the jacket if need be. My only gripe about this jacket is that it doesn't have good neck coverage, so you need a scarf or cowl to protect your neck. I'm like 1% bothered by that since it was expensive, you'd think the jacket would cover up to the neck. Anyway, overall, it's a great winter coat!
I’ve been looking at this jacket for months now, I finally just went ahead and bought the jacket bc why not! Based off the sizing I ordered a small and a medium so I’d have a choice. The sleeves are TOO SHORT! I cried bc I really wanted to love this jacket. I ended up returning both coats. I am 155lb, 5’7” - the medium would have been perfect if the sleeves were longer.
I wanted to love this jacket. Number 1 flaw...the sleeves are SO short! I’m petite. Slim frame, 5’4” and 100 lbs. The extra small fit but the arms were 2 inches or more too short when I raised my arms. I don’t have extra long arms either. Number 2 I don’t think it will be practical for Minnesota winters. It didn’t have the warmth I expected and need for winter walks.
I sized up to a L after reading some reviews. I don't think this was necessary, but I do enjoy the option of layering underneath when it gets really cold, and I also like the longer sleeves. I like the color and design and also the interior. One thing to note is that it's pretty long and in the back reaches down to almost where my knees are. I do wish there was an interior pocket. Overall I would definitely recommend this jacket and to size up if you intend to wear multiple layers underneath!
I purchased this jacket a couple of weeks ago and it has quickly become a favorite. After reading multiple reviews on a different site, I toiled over which size to order. I usually go with xs, but based on some reviewers stating that this jacket ran tight in the shoulders/arms, I went with a small so I would have room to layer, and I am happy with my choice. For me, this jacket's biggest flaw is the lack of zippers on the pockets. I usually don't carry a purse and instead secure my phone and wallet in my pockets, but the lack of zippers has me a little nervous. All in all, though, I highly recommend this jacket. I haven't worn it in temperatures below the low 40s, but I imagine it would do well in colder temps with a thin layer or two underneath.
I absolutely love this jacket! Every time I wear it I get tons of compliments because it’s so cute! I wore it with one layer underneath in below 40 degree weather and I was toasty warm!
I had a prairie dawn coat for a couple years in a different color and loved it. Wore it both camping and in the city. It’s warm and functional while still being well made and flattering. I’m coming back to buy it again in blue because I haven’t found anything like it since leaving it behind in Germany last year. Excited to try another color, though!!
Perfect for everything. Super casual and cute. The fur on the inside is nice and cozy. The thick outer layer is durable and holds well in damp conditions. Looks cute dresses up or down. Love the ability to cinch the waist in smaller. I bought for everyday wear to and from. So glad I bought it- worth the price!
This coat is the perfect coat for anyone that likes to be able to look fashionable while staying very warm at the same time! Couldn't have found a better coat for the level of quality and the added benefits of areas to adjust to your preference...PERFECT COAT!
I love this parka! I was looking for a jacket that was stylish, warm, and offer some protection from the rain. This parka fulfilled all of the requirements!
Patagonia is a good brand for Winter needs . . . .

Would this keep me warm in wind chills of -40F? (I live in Minneapolis)
We don't provide temperature ratings on clothing because warmth depends on many different variables including activity level, metabolism, perspiration as well as the other clothing layers you are wearing.
