I was being prompted to review these boots before I had actually used them. A short walk in town to the bakery wasn’t much of a test, but they seemed fine. The first real “test of snow” - ‘fire’, per se, wasn’t an issue - was 6 days in the Bitteroots in January. Throughout, they were warm, dry and comfortable in the snow. The tread provided reassuring grip at all times - the one time I slipped during my stay, I was not wearing them.
These boots are a decent hiking boots that have great waterproofing, but look and feel like a military boots. My testing included: biking in the rain and hiking on the Appalachian hiking trail in North Carolina (where parts of the trail are like a jungle), and casual use during my daily work. Overall these boots are high quality, but I would not purchase them myself. The design of the boot had minimal seams which give me confidence these will stay waterproof over time. In my two weeks of testing, I found that the waterproofing was excellent. These shoes also have lots of leather, which is awesome, but takes some time to break in, so currently they are stiff and feel like a military boot. With only two weeks of usage, the boots are beginning to soften and feel much better. Additionally, I have found that leather breathes well and at the end of the day, my feet were not wet with sweat. As for aesthetics, the boots like like a military boot and I didn’t like full black color, I would have preferred the brown leather color instead. While hiking, the shoes had good traction from the rubber sole, but slightly slippery on wet rock. Lastly, these boots have a quick lace up that hold tight throughout the day for good support.
Super bummed because the boots themselves say waterproof on them! My feet were totally soaked after a film shoot and walking through some light snow. Sucked because I still have one more day of work. Will definitely see about returning them.
My son is going to wear for the winter time in San Francisco!!
The boot looks better in person than on-line. It’s not as “red” as the picture shows. But I needed to increase a full size because the 10 was too tight in the toe box area. Too bad it does not come in half sizes.
I bought them because they were on Clearence and I needed to protect my feet on a trip when my high end Vasques didn’t get packed. Surprised was I, when I realized how comfortable they were. Good spare boots.
I have a similar boot that is worn very little I don't know what theey use for glue put the seems come apart, I will never purchase Sorel boot again.
I love these boots. They are so comfortable and keep everything out of the boot and they are waterproof. Perfect for me.
I do a lot of hiking and walking and these boots are comfortable and yet tough. I could walk or hike for hours in these.
I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Incredibly light, waterproof, flexible yet supportive. Fantastic value.
Got them for Christmas. Good style, warm dry toes, can’t ask for anything more!
Ordered them not water proof feet got wet just walking on wet grass.
