Fitbit - Versa Smart Watch

Category: Fitness Electronics

I have had this fitbit since May 2019. I have enjoyed using it these past 6 months until I received a notification that someone had hacked my fitbit account and changed my email and password. Despite the fact I have had some form of fitbit for the last 5-6 years, fitbit's customer service was unable to help me regain access to my account. It was one of the worst customer service interactions I have ever had (only Comcast has been worst). Based on this interaction, I felt forced to delete my account entirely as I cannot trust the security or integrity of their system. As a result, I am now left with a very expensive watch that does none of the things I bought it for.

I've had a Fitbit since the very first model, and like this best of all of them. I've yet to set up most of the apps, so I can't review those. Navigation takes a bit of getting used to. I use the exercise tracking feature when I'm hiking, but find it's not very accurate for distance.

Says it’s designed for swimming. Swam laps with it many times, however died after a little over a year. Fitbit nor REI would replace.

I bought this the Versa when it was released. Versa was not my first smartwatch and I was impressed by Fitbit. They really made Versa a lot better and more competitive compared to other smart watches like Apple, Samsung, or Garmin.

Have spent the last 1/2 hour and counting trying without success to change out the wrist band. I have large fingers. Have followed EXACTLY the display on the screen and you really need three hands to do this. One to hold the watch steady, one to insert the wrist band and and one to move the pin. I have two hands. Unless you are a three handed person good luck, and even if I had three hands the pin won't go in on the right side. Don't care if this watch is fantastic if it is this frustrating to change out the wristband. Buy something else.

I was excited to get this watch after my Charge 2 stopped working unexpectedly. It looked and seemed great out of the box. The HRM stopped working in 2 days and despite multiple resets kept failing. Additionally, I kept having to reset and download the watch face because it was having some software issue. The true source of the frustration and disappointment is the Fitbit customer service. They made me jump through hoops-- troubleshooting on my own based on online instructions, over the phone with canned customer service help, and through email, which included sending videos to prove I had followed their instructions. Now, after two weeks of dealing with canned, repetitive customer service responses, the watch is on backorder and they are unapologetic. I believe a company cannot be truly successful today without excellent customer service to back their product. Fitbit-- the hardware and the company-- failed me. They should take a lesson from REI and value their customers. Despite being loyal to Fitbit since their first tracker and having bought multiple for family members, I am now looking into a Garmin vs an Apple Watch. Just of note, if you have an iPhone, you can receive texts on your Versa, but you cannot respond. That capability will not be available for apple users so if that matters, consider an Apple Watch.

I give the Versa one star because the connected GPS to the Google phone is very unreliable and thus calculates erroneous distances. In bike or run exercise applications, it disconnects from and continually attempts to reconnect to the phone. That happened every time I tried to use it. Fitbit acknowledges the issues with suggestions that do not work. Without the connected GPS I would give the watch 3 stars, although it then becomes a very expensive HR monitor.

8-18: Received tracker, setup was easy, and it did what I wanted without a complaint. Nice.

I really like it other that I have to turn my phone and Versa off and off every day so they can reconnect. I’m about to turn it back in to REI for a 2nd time to get another one that might stay connected.

I was looking to replace a polar a300 for general activity monitoring, step counts and heart rate monitoring. The watch is nice design and easy to wear but the over all finish and advertised function is not there.

I use it for tracking my training. It does all things pretty well. My only disappointment is the built in Strava app. It does not allow you to control the strava from your watch. All you can do is see you recent training stats... pretty useless. I was hoping to be able to control strava for when I'm biking. That way I wouln'd have to take my phone out. Falls short there. But, I think that is true for all the smart watches I've check in on.

After my previous Fitbit (an Alta HR) died, I tried on just about every smart watch/fitness tracker in the store before going with this one. I have a super tiny wrist and the Versa has a nice slim profile and isn't too chunky, so it fit comfortably. The interface is fine, I appreciated having a weather app.

The Fitbit Versa is so cool looking, is doing what it said it would do.

I have owned my Versa for a few months now and really think Fitbit did an amazing job on this product. It is a heath and fitness-focused device that does probably the best job at this mission versus any other option. I like it most for the slim/transparent feel that is comfortable enough to sleep with, long battery life (~5 days), attractive appearance, tons of face options and aftermarket support like bands, cases, etc (changed my band immediately), and overall great app. I feel much more in touch with my cardio health and sleep (sleep patterns, stages) than ever before. I recently used this for a fitness challenge at work and it worked fantastic with their program through my iPhone, while people with garmin and other android devices were having trouble syncing their devices to the program. Fitbits were one of the preferred devices to sync for iPhone and Android, probably due to them having supposedly 25M active fitbit users. This watch supposedly was the #2 top selling smart watch in the USA leading up to the holidays, and I'm sure that spot is secure.

Comfortable smartwatch. The lerning curve was not too bad. App is great. Battery lasts 3+ days. It gives you a warning when its getting low.

I had a surge and then upgraded to a versa. I really like the product and the app. After a year, the charger didn't work, so I spent the $20 to get a new charger. Six months later, it wouldn't charge again. I bought a new charger, and it still won't charge. I have no idea what's wrong with it, but I'm done with fitbit. I guess it's fine if you don't mind replacing it in less than two years, but that doesn't work for me. Hopefully I'll have better luck with Garmin.

After quite a bit of persistence, I got this watch working. It looks nice, it's weatherproof, the batteries last for several days, and it's not too big, but it took me an evening, including several full resets, to get it set up to tell the time. At least that's better than my Fitbit Blaze, which totally went off the tracks and can't be fully reset. Displaying the time with a heart monitor, the weather, and progress toward a day's walking all at once is convenient.

I was really excited to see fitbit come out with a smart watch that looked competitive with the Apple watch, for a much lower price point -- I REALLY wanted to like this watch. For the most part, I loved it and had very few issues with it in my first few weeks of wearing it. I was a bit frustrated as to how limited it was on certain running/training aspects that I wanted, but overall it worked as advertised. Then one day the heart rate monitor just quit working. I did some extensive troubleshooting, and in the end had to do a factory reset. That's when the real trouble started. After the restart, it would say it had paired to my phone, the screen would go black, and then it would kick me back to the welcome screen ("to get started, download the fitbit app"). I checked to make sure my phone wasn't the issue, and determined the versa, for some reason, had in the span of 24 hours gone from working fine to a broken heart rate monitor, and then a complete pairing issue. Apparently the heart rate monitor issue is becoming common among versas -- every new smart watch will have it's glitches I guess. This was a deal breaker for me though. I took it back to REI, traded it in for a Garmin Vivoactive 3, and don't think I'll be going back to fitbit any time soon. The Garmin has all the cool extras I was looking for and that the fitbit was lacking.

After 90 days I will probably be keeping this although it has some issues.

HR was not accurate most of the time when doing cardio at the gym (unlike the many other Fitbit devices I have had in the past. After having for 5 weeks I took it for a swim (which it is designed for) and it fell off...never to be found again.

I initially loved it, but close to a year later I started having some issues with it, texts and calls wouldn't show, little things here and there that I would need to trouble shoot. Then I woke up one day and there was a white streak down the middle, it started glitching and eventually went completely black. Clearly the screen had died. I worked with fitbit and they gave me no resolution, only offered 20% off to buy a new one.

If you’re looking for a more health centered Apple Watch competitor then this should work. It has excellent sleep and activity tracking with good motivation updates and gives it in a very concise app. The smart watch end of it works. It gives you any notifications you want but the “App Store” isn’t great. Finally, a really benefit that everyone seems to glass over it how much thinner in depth this Watch is vs the Apple Watch.

I got this specifically because it came up as one of just a few smartwatch options that have an SpO2 sensor..... but that sensor doesn't do anything and there's no way to use it, as confirmed by Fitbit customer support. So.... I'm really not sure why it's listed as a feature when it's literally not a feature that is available or can be used.

This was a purchase for the wife as she mentioned wanting an upgrade from the old Fitbit and a new pair of shoes. Long story short I surprised her with the new Versa and socks and shoes to boot. She love the Versa and the other items but she seems to be running more now that she can see more of her stats such as her heart rate. Thanks for the Versa and will update if there are any issues found in the future.

I like that you can pick what you have showing on the face. The wristband is much nicer than my old fitbit.

Tried updating the watch and it completely glitched out to the point of no return. Fitbit sent me a replacement. That one doesn't work either.

I am a longtime Fitbit customer, though I have stepped out to use a few different other devices from Garmin. I tend to stick with Fitbit because I enjoy the ease of use, the phone app (I love doing work week step challenges with friends and colleagues) and while I can appreciate the additional functionality that comes with other watches/wearables, I can find some of it to be unnecessary for the interests/needs I have: steps, sleep, HR, minutes of activity.
