Altra - Timp 1.5 Trail-Running Shoes - Women's

Category: Women's Running Shoes

I just walked 600 miles in these (Camino de Santiago) and they held up great. Very comfortable (I did switch out the insoles to superfeet ones). Love the room in the toe area but not too wide of a heel. Only breakdown was some tearing of the fabric inside the heel after about 300 miles - my husband says that's because of how I pulled them on :) As expected for trail runners, cushioning ran out somewhere between 450-500 miles. Externally they still held up well and looked fine. Traction remained excellent, esp on wet

This shoe is great for most kinds of trail hiking (never tried them with any pack other than for water, etc.). Excellent fit for those of us with wide toe box and narrow heels. However, they are of terrible quality. The first pair broke down after a couple of months of light wear, the next, I returned after three weeks and a total of maybe 20 miles after the side lining started to rip.

I bought these for a trip to Vail, CO for moderate hiking. I am not a "runner" but wanted a comfortable shoe. I'd never heard of the brand but the minute I put them on I knew the fit was perfect. They turned out to be the most comfortable shoe ever, and I ended up wearing them all day, every day, as we walked everywhere - in town, river trail, etc. I even wore them on a horseback ride and they were sturdy and fine. I have a bunion on my left foot (but not wide feet) and the roomy toe box was perfect so never had any pain. The support also helped my back which gets tight from sitting at a desk all day. Added bonus, love the gold shoe laces with the grey. I'm checking REI's site for another pair from this brand. I wear an 8 to 8.5 and the 8.5 fit perfectly.

I recently have suffered from blackened and sore toes from hiking and walking, enough so I was tempted to quit altogether. After some research, I found Altra brand running shoes. They were a bit pricey for me on a fixed income but with REI's return policy, I decided to give them a try. Absolutely love them. No more toe pain. In fact, I will be purchasing another pair for normal everyday use.

Perfect trail shoe. Amazing cushion, still very responsive. Wearing these for an upcoming 50k

This is a great shoe and my fiancée agrees. My fiancée was looking for some trail running shoes for hiking and happened to check these out since I recommended them to her. We saw nothing but great reviews about this shoe. She really liked how roomy the toe box was but for her, it seemed a bit too roomy to the point where she didn’t feel confident in her strides. She described it as almost being sloppy in a way hence the 4/5 stars. No matter how much she tightened the laces, it still felt sloppy in a way. This leads us to the next issue. The tongue of the shoe wasn’t as padded as she wanted it to be. So the laces were digging into the top of her foot every time she tried tightening them down for a secure fit. Another down side was when the ground was wet, the shoe didn’t have all that great of a traction which was big for her. We ended up returning the shoe to REI even though she wanted to like the shoe since it was such a great shoe.

These are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn! I work outside in the summer heat and walk over 10 miles a day. My feet never sweat, my legs are never tired at the end of the day, and I’ve never had a blister! When it rains, the shoes repel the water. They are very cool and comfortable. Even though they are pricey, they are worth it. I even bought a second pair as backup just in case they are discontinued. (I was skeptical buying these at first because they looked a little “clownish” but once I walked in them, I didn’t care what they looked like!)

Got Altra timps for a through hike after dealing with lots of blisters between my toes. The blisters went away but I can only get about 350 miles on a pair before they start causing pain in my arches. Love the toe box though.

These are trail running shoes that also happen to be great hiking shoes. I really love them. However after only wearing my first pair for a couple of months, the area b/w big toe and top of the foot tore with maybe about 15-20 mi a week of state park type hiking (typical terrain). I went back to REI and they provided a new pair. I still love them. In fact I recommended for my husband to get a pair and he did. I wanted to provide some feedback for future shoe design improvement.

Never owned a pair of Altras before but needed a comfortable shoe for walking, hiking, running. I have several foot issues so wide around toe caught my attention. This shoe has great padding, did not know much about zero drop. All I can say is they are the most comfortable, versatile shoes I have ever owned. Just finished a Europe trip walking all kinds of situations, plus played some hard tennis on one stop and this was only shoe I had. No soar feet, amazing for me!

I cannot say enough positive things about this shoe. It has made a TREMENDOUS difference in my training on trails. I have very much shifted from my punishing heel strike to a mid-foot strike. My left knee had required sports tape or a compression to get through a workout. No more. My knees no longer require a recovery or taping/compression. The transition period was smooth and nominal. No hype here...simply the best shoe decision I have made.

I was not planning on getting a 0 drop shoe, but am really glad that I did. These are so insanely cushy and there is so much room in the toe box that I will not be taking them off anytime soon unless I am wearing sandals. I have some tendonitis in my feet which was not helped by my too small shoes, and that is almost gone. They have padding in all the right places. More than I was planning on spending, but the happy feet made it worth it.

I always went the "hiking boot" route and was constantly miserable after about mile 5 of any hike. These trail runners i used for short to super long hikes and overnights. I took them to san jacinto recently. Feet were super comfy, no hot spots, they were super grippy during all of the scrambling, they felt both sturdy and flexible and best of all lightweight! never going back to traditional boots!

These were super comfortable and allowed my toes to splay naturally. However I ended up purchasing Vibram five finger shoes instead and absolutely will never go back to a regular shoe again. Unsurpassed comfort and feeling of freedom. I love the barefoot feeling. That being said, these altra shoes were the most comfy shoes i had ever worn in my life, for this style of shoe. Highly recommend.

I bought these shoes a year ago. These are the best athletic shoes I’ve ever worn. I tried using the REI inserts when I first bought them, but I found it was better to wear them the way they were intended. I can walk and hike all day without fatigue. I will only buy this brand from now on. I have problem feet (flat)(bunions) this shoe works for me.

I really loved these shoes at first. The wide toebox too a little getting used to but really felt great. Unfortunately they I kept getting blisters on my heel from these shoes. I tried padding them because I really wanted to them to work but ultimately had to return them. I would try this brand again however to see if I could just get a better fit.

These are the most comfortable trail running shoes I've ever owned, and I've been running trails for over 20 years, but they perform technically as well. Ran down a super steep and slippery trail yesterday in them and they gripped like champs. Ordered a 2nd pair so I can alternate and keep them going for as long as possible.

The shoe was bought for hiking.

I love these shoes. They have super soft soles. I usually have to put my own insoles in my hiking shoes, but not with these. They are also feather light. The large toe box is another plus. I have bought other Altra models, but these are the best I have found.

I bought these for hiking in Zion National Park, but wound up buying hiking boots instead, planning to return these when I got back....boy am I glad I didn’t!! Decided to give these a try on a run, LOVE them! Most comfortable running shoe I’ve ever worn ;)

I have very unhappy feet and these shoes make them feel so much better. I love the wide toe box. For once my toes aren’t getting crunched and rubbing each other raw. I like these shoes so much I am thinking about buying a backup pair.

Thought I loved the Lone Peaks until I tried these. They were enough cushion for 5+ hours on the trails and my feet still felt great. Good traction, although I have now tried the king MTs and those are the best traction

I have bunions on both sides of my feet, which are otherwise small. Because of this, I've had a horrible time trying to find shoes that fit without being stretched. These were the answer to my dreams. Love them!!!

I was skeptical at first that they were so light weight but they hold up and are even more comfortable than my road shoes. They have good traction and even after 10 miles on the trail my feet feel pretty good.

With my orthotics, these shoes are amazing! Great width and foot shaped toe box, perfect amount of cushioning, and the zero drop make these better than my Hokas and, with the tread, more versatile!

These are my wife’s first pair of trail runners and she loves them. She wears them all the time. She says they are the most comfortable shoes she’s ever had.

I’m in training for the Portuguese Camino in September. These trail shoes are working out very comfortably. My toes are enjoying the wide toe-Box.

They feel terrific for a while. Could use more cushion. First few hours at work are totally fine. After 6-8 hours as a nurse, not so comfortable.

These are not comfortable after a few hours of walking in them. They dissapointed. I cant return cause I wore them already.

Fantastic fit for bunion

I bought these for my wife. She loves them and says they are very comfortable. She especially likes the wide toe

LOVE these shoes! I have horrible plantar fascitis and these make my feet feel normal again. Thankyou Altra!

No blisters, good cushion and support. Lots of room for toes and feet swelling.

Comfy shoes for long standing if you have bunions or plantar fascitis

Buying another pair - great shoe and true to size.
