I love this jacket. It's light and warm and comfortable. After receiving it we had very cold temperatures (10-15 F) with high winds of 20 MPH with gusts tio 35 MPH. I tested it by 45 minutes outside shoveling snow in the brutal wind and I stayed very warm. Lots of other very cold and windy winter weather followed and this jacket came through great. It's not bulky so no problem driving in it. As other reviewers mentioned the little details are amazing too. The sizing is roomy so lots of room for layering or even going down a size.
Being from the land of legendary weather and knowing Columbia jackets have protected me and kept me warm at 60 below wind chill I felt good buying the Alpine Jacket for Minnesota fall and spring weather.
This has been a nice addition to my ski gear. It fits great and the powder skirt is snug. I have not used it on truly cold days, but I think it would hold up. It’s not too flashy, but it does the job. Some of the cons would be: the hood does not fit over a helmet (unless you have a tiny head); no pit zips to ventilate; and no goggle wipe in the shoulder pocket.
The medium fit like a large, the zipper was sticky, and I believe one sleeve was longer than the other. Also, the Velcro on the flap over the zipper worked a little too well, making access to the zipper inconvenient.
Returned this purchase. Thought it had a removable liner
Only wore it a few times before it started turning warm and based on the few times I have worn it, I think it will be fine for me. My primary use is just being warm for everyday winter life but not skiing or other severe outdoor activity
Great jacket. Wore it snowboarding with a thermal and a hoodie. Kept me warm even when I wasn't in action. Only slight complaint is that that color isn't really black. More like a deep gray/green/blue color.
Was looking for a first time ski jacket, and it certainly held up. We had single digit temperatures, rain and snow and it held up admirably. Found myself quite hot at times and was only wearing a single layer. Never soaked through either. Great jacket.
This is straight garbage. After one use the zipper broke which make the jacket a useless cape.
Went snowboarding in this jacket with weather in the low 20s. Only had one layer underneath and was perfectly comfortable. Good for for a broader/taller guy, plenty of space for layering if needed.
This is an outstanding parka (I bought mine from REI Nov 2018). It is a terrific windbreaker, uses high-tech thermal lining for warmth, and is both water resistant from the outside and doesn't get soggy from sweat on the inside. To get these features without a lot of extra weight is what your're paying for. I use mine constantly downhill skiing.
Two jackets, two bad zippers. Had to return both. Columbia has a manufacturing problem. Will no longer purchase Columbia jackets online.
