I am completely new to climbing so take my review with a grain of salt. So far I've really enjoyed this show, I tried on a few other entry level shoes and they didn't fit quite right. I tried this one and it was an instant comfortable but correct fit. I've taken them outdoors and indoors and every was perfect both times. I would higjly recommend them.
When you wear them for any period of time other than to just try them on your feet will turn blue... Otherwise they are great shoes! The laces are strong and durable, and the leather the shoes is made of is holding up really well. My only complaint with the climbing capability of the shoes is that the toe box isn't amazing for toe hooks.
Working at a rock gym not only do I see all of the shoes but i find these the best all around shoes. Not only are these wonderful shoes they have a great balance between the toe box and the heel either way. Great for smearing and plenty of grip. They fit both narrow and wide feet they are laced up so you can get a tight comfortable fit.
I am not sure why there are all the positive reviews on these shoes beside that they seem to be made with decent quality because when I purchased these and wore them in the store they felt great, then I went to the gym and that is where the problems started they dug very hard into my big toe nails so i let a friend try them and behold the same thing for him as well so i returned them and bought a different pair with not so pointy of a toe on them. People with normally shaped feet beware!
So far so good! This is my first climbing shoe so I don’t have a lot to compare to. I like the leather shoe with the laces for a more precise fit. The leather has stretched some which I anticipated. I have been using them for bouldering indoors for about a month. They are holding up nicely at this point.
I bought this a few weeks ago so I would not have to rent anymore. Seems to be durable and does make climbing easier. Has good grip all around. The blue area by the heel tends to collapse in and I am worried that will lead to premature wearing out, but this may be because I have a low volume foot.
I originally purchased these shoes a size too small, but fortunately REI was cool enough to let me exchange them after a couple climbs when I realized this. The new pair that I have fit comfortably yet allow me to be aggressive enough to hit routes with tiny footholds. Definitely would recommend
I purchased these shoes after another new pair of shoes got a hole in them. Tried them on at the store and they were a little uncomfortable but I knew I would have to wear them in a little. Took them to the gym and they were absolutely terrible. I have wider feed but these were incredibly uncomfortable even though I went up a half size. Ended up making a couple climbs with them and then took them back for another pair. Grateful that REI has an awesome return policy.
I’ve only recently started climbing in a gym (5 times). These have been great shoes to work with. Nice and grippy, and the neutral bottoms allow me to keep them on all day. The fit is awesome- foot volume makes a lot of contact with the exterior of the shoe.
Just for some context, I’m somewhere around the advanced beginner to intermediate stage of climbing, and have only climbed in gyms.
I bought this a couple weeks ago and the first time climbing in them was great! They're supposed to stretch a half size so make sure they're tight. I highly recommend these shoes for beginners.
I have narrow feet and these fit perfectly. I used these primarily indoor for climbs up to v4. These are comfortable if you fit them right and are solid beginner/intermediate shoes.
These are my first pair of climbing shoes, but I've had them for a few weeks now and I love them! Love the laces over Velcro. Makes for a great snug fit.
Love my Helix climbing shoes! I especially like the fact that they lace up, for a secure fit, and help me grip the wall.
Perfect for gym, beginners or seasoned climbers who don’t need an aggressive shoe.
These shoes are comfortable and have great quality.
Bought these strickly for indoor climbing. Only used them half a dozen times but seem fine. Usually wear them 1-2 hours at a time and havent noticed myself waiting for the first chance to take them off.
I bought a pair of these at my local gym. Climbed a couple of times per week in them. Right at the four month marker they developed tears along the front of the shoes exposing the rind. I emailed Scarpa about a warranty claim on them (1 year) to get them replaced or resoled. They denied me. Do not buy Scarpa they do not back up their warranty.
Great shoe but I have wide feet and after 3 uses at Joshua Tree the side blew out
Only down side is that if you have sweaty feet, the blue die gets on your toes for days after a climb
