Bought this based on a friends recommendation and the mug does keep everything hot or cold. However, I bought this as a to go mug and boy was I surprised to find out that the lid leaks nearly as bad as no lid at all. NOT A TO GO MUG! My daughter bought me a $8.00 mug that at least doesn't spill. I ride a scooter and put my mugs in my backpack. Wow, big mistake as half the coffee was all over me when I got to work. Not sure why a famous brand like Yeti would design such a worthless lid. For the price, a total rip off. Will be returning mine and search for something that actually doesn't spill
This lid is a must-have upgrade for my Yeti Tumbler. It does not make the mug watertight or leak-proof, but I purchased it knowing that. I just wanted something to keep my beverage from easily spilling out the opening on the original lid. I use my Yeti mug almost daily and it serves that purpose very well. This lid also keeps the heat in since it rises right out of the opening of the original lid. The use of the magnet for the sliding closure is excellent for cleaning - there are no extra crevices to gather left-over liquid that could become mold.
Seemed cool at first, then found the magnetic closure was a pain remove. That alone would be a 4 star. My 1 star rating is for dropping the lid, closure flying off and not finding it. The original design was just as good. I had that one for 2 years. This one, 2 months. It feels like they wanted to build in obsolecents.
I keep purchasing these lids because my now 10 month old GSD loves to open the Rambler & drink from the cup.
He will take the lid & hide them as chew toys. Maybe the hardness. Maybe the way it fits in his paws. Maybe the show off he is like mistress see what I have of yours.
Now with the long blue ruff toy this will be the last lid I purchase.
I'm not sure why Yeti doesn't advertise this, but I can confirm that this will fit the Rambler 14oz Mug (despite specifying that it's only for the 30oz Tumbler). The store employee couldn't tell me because Yeti doesn't specify this, but after staring at it for a few minutes I decided to roll the dice, buy both, and it worked out great.
Another quality product from YETI. It is definitely spill "resistant", but highly resistant. It even seems a little more solid than the standard lid. The idea of the magnet rather than a sliding guide seems way more efficient. Will be getting one for my 20 oz as well. Rock on YETI and REI for carrying epic products!
