Upgraded to this from the basic Forerunner and I love the features, being able to set up more run workouts and that I can listen to my Spotify. My biggest issue is the wonky battery life. It drains SO quickly. I will fully charge it, go for a run, and then set it in the dresser till the next day with almost full battery, and the next morning it’s dead. I’m noticing this more in the cooler temps, but I never had this issue with my former Garmin. I’ve turned off everything I can to save battery life but this till happens. It will go from 0-96% within 10 minutes of putting it back on the charger, but I generally opt to just run without it in those situations.
I love it. I upgraded from the forerunner 35 because I wanted the music feature and more swim options. I have very small wrists so size is important. This watch is the perfect size and style blend. It took a couple weeks to get comfortable with the interface. But now I love it. It counts swim laps for me. I connect it to my headphones and listen to Spotify. I am currently using the garmin coach to train for a 10k. It will send the workouts to the watch, and prompt me at every turn!. Everyday I find a new feature! It’s the perfect watch for triathlon training at a reasonable price.
I love this watch. I loved my old forerunner 305, I was concerned that this modern smartwatch-looking device wouldn't live up to my expectations. I was surprised to find that this device has the same durability and quality as the old forerunners. The battery lasts an incredibly long time. I can go five to seven days without charging, and that includes several hours of GPS recording throughout the week. The training metrics are excellent as well. This thing tracks your fitness 24 hours a day. Its training insight and body metrics are surprisingly accurate.
When I got my first Garmin watch in 2008 and my second Garmin watch in 2014, I wished they had many of the features that this Garmin Forerunner 245 Music GPS Watch has. The ability to use Amazon Music or Spotify without lugging around a cell phone is my favorite feature and what has kept me away from plunging into other smart watches like the Apple Watch over the last few years. I have minor complaints about the watch, but I would definitely buy again!
worked great up until around mid September. Then the HR measurement stopped working correctly. I tried to return it, but it was past REI's 90 day limit, so now I'm stuck with dealing with Garmin directly. Wish I had purchased this from Amazon. A return would have been possible and I wouldn't have had to pay sales tax on the original purchase.
I spent a lot of time researching the watch that I needed. I do triathlons sometimes, but most of what I do is running and gym workouts. This watch had everything I needed and then some. I like the sleeping pulse ox and the accuracy of the GPS. I am a fan of this watch and the ability to track runs, sleep and activity.
I really like this watch! This is my first "smart" watch so I have a lot to learn about all the features. There are so many amazing things this watch does!
Did I mention love!?!?! I’m not sure why I waited so long to purchase.
I owned this watch less than a year and had lots of problems with it. The first few months it locked up on me while trying to save workouts and I had to reset the watch, losing all my data. This happened twice. Then it seemed to work fine for awhile. I does take a long time to upload music, so I recommend more shorter playlists over few long ones.
I upgraded to the Forerunner 245 from the 220. When deciding on which watch to get, I was between the 245 and the 645. I liked the 645 because it looks a bit nicer with the metal bezel and has an altimeter. However, I ultimately went with the 245 and am very happy with my choice.
I've been a fan of Garmin training tools since my first forerunner 305 back in .. I dunno 2006 or so. I currently use a Fenix 3HR and got this 245 for my girlfriend who'd never had a gps watch before. In terms of the size, I wouldn't call it "dainty" but it's not at all out of place on a woman's wrist, size-wise. I got white so ... overall look is sporty/feminine.

Can I play my Amazon offline playlists if I cant stream music while running?
At this time this watch is designed to work with iHeartRadio and Spotify only. You can also transfer music that is saved on your personal computer account.
