Therm-a-Rest - NeoAir Mini Pump

Category: Sleeping Pads, Cots and Hammocks

Super compact design, but not very powerful. It took over 20 minutes to 85% fill my Big Agnes Q-Core SL Sleeping Pad. I returned this air pump and bought a X-Lounger Max Pump and it filled the same air pad in under 3 minutes. I can't think of an application that this pump would be appropriate for.

We’ve had this little pump for quite awhile, and I’m really glad for the assist with inflating our NeoAir pads. We stash it with the straps that hold our pads together, along with spare batteries, although I rarely have to replace the batteries. Since NeoAirs don’t self inflate and I don’t have the lung power of my youth, this little pump is well worth the tiny space and weight in our canoes. My husband doesn’t use it - he’s younger and can blow his pad up in no time - but with the pump, I can take care of nesting us in the tent on my own.

My experience: tried it out a few nights at 9600' and 10200' elevation along JMT section. Partially inflated my XTherm by half, but still had to finish blowing up to higher pressure manually. Had to blow in 10 breaths worth. The pumpsack while awkward actually inflated more than the minipump. Great idea, just underpowered.

Does most of the work for you. More than you should expect for size and price. Will deflate mattress if batteries are installed backwards and battery door is held in place but not snapped shut. Perfect for packpacking.

This is the silliest indulgence for camping I have ever bought. I love every moment I can hook it up, walk away and do something else, and return to an inflated mat. Tiny, lightweight and batteries last ages.

I have a 4 person tent, so I need to inflate 4 mattresses every time. I use this together with a mattress bag to work faster. As other reviewers mentioned, it does not inflate the mattress completely, and you have to keep an eye on it so it does not run on and waste battery life. But it inflates enough that you only need one pumping with the bag after that. It is very efficient, as it still had battery left in it after 6 nights. However, I have also used the bag at the same time.

I have both The NeoAir XLite and XTherm, both in The Long 25" Width. 5 mins and either one is fully inflated, no need to top off with a few breaths. I watched Bigfoot's Review of this and I was sold, had to have one. When Pad is full close the valve by turning the pump until valve is closed and you don't lose a bit of air

The Good: -rubber valve cover stretches a bit allowing it to work with various different valves. - It Works with my two air pillows (Cocoon travel and Cocoon mummy bag/camp pillow) - It works on my "old" Big Agnes pad (Insulated Q-core SL) NOTE: I'm talking about my year old pad, (which has a valve that's similar to the NeoAir Pads) NOT the new Big Agnes pads with the two "high volume valves". I am not sure if this product would work with the new pads.... - It's surprisingly light and small for what it does!

The quality is very poor. Cheap chinese components. I ordered this to avoid the late night light headed-ness that comes with blowing up my mattress. This pump does about 50% of the job then I have to blow up the rest anyway, and it takes like 5 minutes. The batteries only last about 3 sessions. Definitely not worth it! I have just gotten used to blowing up my mattress on my own.

While it is light and works satisfactorily on my thermarest pad, I really wish it worked on other brands. It absolutely does not work on my Big Agnes inflatable pad. Did ok on the thermarest brand. Still had to put a few last breaths in tho. Not powerful enough to blow up pad fully

I wish I’d bought this years ago! It works best on pop-up valves (Thermarest, Klymit), but I also used it with flat valves (Nemo Tensor, Exped), it’s just a little more tricky to set up. It doesn’t fill 100%, will get you about 80% of the way. Still, worth every penny!

It's an excellent idea, especially if you're camping at elevation where oxygen is low. But the pump works so slowly that you could have your entire camp set up before this pump fills our NeoAir mattress.

This hardly blows enough air to call it a pump. The size is nice, but it takes a very long time to even add a small quantity of air to you pad.

Light and efficient, and wayyyyyyy better then blowing up your pad. Just add 2-3 breaths after using and the pad is perfect.

This pump is small and light weight, yet it will blow up my thermarrest extra long sleeping pad in just over 2 minutes.

Haven't used it, yet .... hope it works well. I don't like blowing up my air mattress.

Small lite weight unit to pump air into your air mattress.

Will it work with a Nemo Tensor 20R Insulated pad?

This pump is compatible with the Nemo Tensor 20R Insulated pad.

Does the mini air pump fit a Big Agnes air core sleeping pad nozzle?

This pump is compatible with older style valves on the Big Agnes Air Core pads. The pump is not compatible with the newer, flat lock valves.

RecycleQ

Will the pump work on a Big Agnes Stillwater? It looks like the air mattress' opening is larger than 5/8 but I can't tell for sure.

Yes, this pump will work on a Big Agnes Stillwater Sleeping Pad.

Will this work with the thermarest dreamtime? If not, is there a product that would? Thank you!

If your Therm-a-Rest Dreamtime has the twist style, cone-shaped valve, then this pump will work.

Has anyone tried putting the batteries in reversed to see if the fan then runs in reverse? ...I'm wondering if I can also use it to suck most of the air out of my Neo-Lite . . .

This pump does not have a reverse feature for pumping air out of your mattress.

Will this work with a nemo Astro air bed?

Yes, this pump will work with the NEMO Astro pads.

Will this work to inflate a Prolite - instead of having to blow it up that last little bit after it self inflates? And if so, is there any danger of damaging it with this pump by over-inflating it?

This pump will work perfectly with a Therm-a-Rest ProLite sleeping pad. There is no danger of over inflating while using this pump. The ProLite is equipped with a built in stop valve that will prevent over inflation.

What is the diameter of the valve? The mattress I have indicates a 1/2" pump valve and am wondering if this will work.

The NeoAir Mini Pump opening is 5/8 inches.
