Arc'teryx - Atom LT Insulated Hoodie - Women's

Category: Women's Jackets

I'm a big fan of Arc'teryx because of the quality, fit, and technical aspects. I needed a new jacket that would work for Alaska hiking, boating, winter sports (on warmer days), and as an around town layer. The Atom LT Insulated Hoodie has been perfect for all of those activities this year. For colder days during winter, I'll layer this up with my Arc'teryx Beta AR shell. I'm 5'6" and 140 pounds and ordered a large. My normal Arc'teryx size is medium but I wanted a little extra room to account for layers. This jacket still feels fitted and stylish. It's definitely lightweight and warm, without being too puffy.

I got this coat 8 months ago and one of the cuffs is already coming undone at the seam. I went to REI and the only suggestion I got from customer service was to take it to a seamstress and they could easily repair. Needless to say I’m not very happy as a long time member of REI.

Used this for a European trip involving cold and warmer weather. The XS size fits great, my usual size. For a person who generally feels cold at anything below 65ºF, this was great for a hike at 30º-40º (I put a windproof/waterproof shell overtop just in case), and for regular walks in the street at 50º-65º I did not feel too hot/cold. I did get caught in the rain a few times and the water beaded up on the jacket. I had a concern that the water would seep through, but during the 2 hours of being rained on, the water didn't seem to go through the jacket. Later on became worried and when the jacket dried up I put a waterproof shell overtop. So this jacket kept me warm and dry and I'd recommend to anyone.

I have found my new Atom LT Hoodie to be a functional and sleek looking layer for cold weather activities when I'm producing body heat (skiing, hiking, running, biking) and also a great casual jacket for warmer temperatures (above freezing). Living in Washington, this is quickly becoming my go-to mid layer under a water/wind-proof shell. The Cerium LT is on my wishlist for colder days!

I love this jacket so much, I am happy I finally bought a new one so that I could wear my old one for everyday house use. this jacket is so comfortable and keeps my body at a cool temperature where I hardly ever feel like I'm overheating outside. I used this backpacking, my attempts at snow boarding, fishing, and now, everyday house use. This jacket is great and is now getting put through abuse in house use for the past 6 months and I am surprised/not surprised how well its holding up. Only gripe is that stains do not come out :( so dark colors is the way to go

I’d wanted this jacket for months and am so happy I took the leap. I love that it gives me the warmth of a puffier jacket while still looking cute, it’s literally like wearing a socially acceptable sleeping bag. I live in Colorado where it can be very windy, this jacket does a great job of blocking it out and keeping me warm. Also if you rock climb, the zipper catches around the neck so it doesn’t come undone accidentally when climbing, how cool?!

Arc'teryx should have named this jacket the Goldilocks...it's JUST RIGHT. I was looking for a jacket for power walking and wanted a hood, insulation and ventilation. Bought this in the store and knew nothing about it at first. I can't get over how perfect this jacket is. The insulation is lightweight but effective...it's even in the sleeves which I really like. The ventilation panels are genius. This jacket is so lightweight and yet it serves as a windbreaker as well. I can layer under it and over it depending on the weather. My coldest day of walking was about 24 degrees - I had a base layer, a quarter-zip pullover, and a vest under this jacket, plus a hat and gloves, and I was perfectly comfortable. The hood is adjustable around the back of the head rather than under the chin and it works great. There are no thumb holes, but the wrists are snug and do not let drafts in. I'm 5'3" and 155 lbs and got a large, the fit is perfect, the back hits about mid-tush. The sleeves are plenty long enough. I can't say enough about this jacket and recommend it highly. It's expensive but so worth it. Cold and/or windy weather no longer holds me back from walking!

I was skeptical of this jacket at first, mostly because the price was higher than I wanted to pay, but the enthusiasm of the REI staff convinced me to give it a try. Well, it’s 100% worth it! As long as the Atom LT is still in production, I will never buy another jacket. Mine is 3 years old and in great shape, despite lots of wear. I live in MN, so I don’t consider this a winter coat, but it’s great for shoulder season hiking and stylish enough to wear around the city for errands. I feel comfortable down into the 30s with just a wool base layer underneath, and it’s breathable enough to wear in much higher temps. I am 5’0” and 114 pounds (normally wear a size 2P in clothing), and while I could’ve gone with an XS, I bought the S because for my size I have large hips and small fit over my hips better and didn’t look too bulky. Lastly, the arm cuffs are just the best. They fit snugly around my petite wrists and keep the cold air drafts out. Love, love, love, this jacket!

This jacket is functional for around town, short hikes, cold winter runs. It runs really narrow. I am 5 feet 120 and had to upsize to medium to have it be anything other than skin tight. The sleeves are long though so the overall proportion not quite right unless you are quite thin through your torso

BEST piece of outerwear I’ve ever purchased. I’ve worn this throughout the fall and winter months daily for 6 years and 1000+ miles along the AT and it’s still super warm, although riddled with burn holes from campfire embers. I just bought another one, I’m so glad they still make them!

I thought this looked mostly white to semi purple-ish white in the photo, but it is actually a very matronly light purple. It reminds me of a diaper bag from the 80s. Other than that it is an awesome hoodie. I’ve already ordered a replacement in a different color. :)

My nano puff meet with a terrible accident with a can of wood varnish so I went to REI to replace it. While I was there, a sales associate turned me into this jacket and man am I so glad she did. It’s already taken a beating in the snow and I just got back from a two week trip to Europe. No matter the temperature I am WARM and toasty. Also it’s great for trips since the whole thing packs into its inner pocket. This jacket keeps the wind out much better than the Nano Puff, and I personally think it’s a more flattering fit.

How am I just discovering this jacket, I notice some of the reviews are from 7 years ago?! I have only had mine a few days, but I can already tell it will be my new go-to lightweight jacket. So far it’s only been tested down to temps in the mid-40’s and breezy, but it performed like a champ...I feel like I’m cuddled up in my sleeping bag while wearing it. I love the details like the flattering fit and comfortably snug stretch at the cuffs that keep cold drafts out. The fit is a little on the small side, so you may want to consider sizing up if you’re normally between sizes or want to layer underneath. I am typically a size 8 and ordered my usual medium and it fits great, but I wouldn’t comfortably be able to wear anything with more bulk than perhaps a thick flannel shirt underneath, so it’s definitely a slim fit.

The color, size, feeling are all great. Until after hiking for couple hours, all stuff in all the pockets were soaking wet; camera battery, money, lenses cap. I have another jacket in different brand, kinda similar capacity, any stuff in pockets never got soaking wet. When it comes to battery or anything about my camera, I definitely wouldn't recommend this jacket.

Arc'teryx has combined a sleek, dressy style with an outdoor winter warming cocoon. The fit and color are stylish for every day work wear while the fabric's breathability, convenient pockets, comfortable hood, cozy wrist cuffs, and packability make it a tool to be used for outdoor fun. The light weight fabric of this jacket has kept me toasty warm in early winter temps as low as 5 degrees with strong winds. I look forward to using it in many outdoor adventures.

I do not normally take the time to write a review unless I dislike a product, but this time I wanted to write a detailed review of the Arcteryx Atom LT. I am a hiker from Michigan and am 5'1" and 145 lbs, I bought the Medium, this jacket feels like it was custom designed for me. It sits just below waist line for easy movement. As a petite women, it has always been difficult to find a jacket that is flattering as well as functional, and this is just the one! The sleeve lengths are just right, the elastic closure at the wrists keeps all the wind away. I would not call this an absolute wind-resistant jacket if you are using it as an outer layer, but it does keep majority of the wind blocked. I also love the helmet-fit hoodie, it blocks all the wind and keeps me warm and dry! Bonus: It is extremely light weight, I mean extremely - I can fold it down to a 4X4 square for easy packing! The material is soft yet sturdy.

If you're considering this jacket, don't hesitate, buy it! This was my first Arcteryx item, and it's been a staple in my outdoor gear for years now. I use it for hiking, skiiing, camping, playing, etc. It's kept me warm layered down to 20 degrees, and keeps me comfortable up to 65 degrees. I love it! It's held up for years and it's still going strong. Best purchase I've ever made. I've convinced all my friends to get one!

Purchased this as a gift for my wife. She uses it as her outer layer during our evening skin sessions in the local hills and she loves it for its versatility, fit and function. With the hood up blowing snow is accommodated without the need for a 3 layer shell. The stretch of the fabric enhances the fit and provides for exceptional freedom of movement. Yes, it is expensive but the purchase was worth every penny.

Took this on a trip to Ireland in September, with all the crazy weather that implies. It packs down into a small space, was warm enough for the wind and rain yet breathable so I didn't sweat through. It was light enough that it was still comfortable when the weather was warmer. And it's cute with jeans (not imperative, but it helps when you don't want to change coats just to go into town). Love, love, love this.

I bought this as a jacket to wear on very cold runs, but it soon replaced my nanopuff as my favorite light jacket. So comfortable, great fit, adjustable everywhere. It makes me want to purchase all outerwear from Arc'teryz... if I could only afford that life!

This is definitely my favorite all-around jacket. It’s great for any physical outdoorsy activity, but also strolling through the city. The Atom LT is very light and is also a great travel piece. I believe it is definitely worth the price tag. The only complaint I can see is that it is a “fitted” size, so if you’re not super slim, I would recommend getting a size up or so.

Oh my gosh I love this jacket. The price initially put me off, but the number of times I've worn it have made it worth the price. I love the bright coral trim on burgundy. It's a flattering cut and not too heavy. The sleeves taper and end with a sleek stretchy panel of fabric instead of a circular elastic bunching, which looks and feels great. Worth every penny!

I live in San Diego. It gets hot in the summer, but cold in the winter. So far this has been my favorite jacket I’ve owned (so much so that I downsized my others and got rid of them). It’s warm but not hot and looks casual but not sloppy. Great fit and length and has good stretch to it for activities. I never want to take it off. Buy it.

I initially got this layer to stay warm while visiting Seattle for a couple days before our climb. But I took it up with me on Rainier and it was such a great addition to my layers. It was perfect for the cool nights in Seattle and warm enough for the cold winds at Camp Muir and as a layer for summit day. This is my new favorite jacket.

Really love this jacket, it keeps me comfortable in 50-60 degree weather. It’s light and doesn’t overheat. My only gripe about this jacket are the small pockets. I can barely fit my phone in the pockets.

I've never owned a jacket so versatile -- it's warm on its own, easy to layer, etc. Even in Chicago winters, this jacket takes me through most of the season. A worthy investment.

Excellent jacket, I’m 5’4”, 130 pounds and the small fits great.

I hesitated to buy this jacket only because of the price and the color. But after using it for running and hiking and traveling, I am so glad I took the chance. It makes a perfect outer layer, or mid-layer for winter activities. The hood fits nicely over my hat. And the color is growing on me!

I purchased a second one after my husband gave me one for Christmas.

I love this jacket! I can’t wait to use it in my hiking plans. I recently purchased it and was able to wear it casually and it’s so warm and fits so well! I didn’t feel heavy and I was warm!

I have purchased the Atom Lt for years. I have it in five colors and adding the crimson this fall. Versatile, warm, and can be worn for hiking, biking, and yes over my dress clothes to work every day. Multi season jacket and worth every penny!

This jacket is amazing. It's so incredibly light, yet somehow so warm and cozy. I live in Alaska and this is a great jacket for spring/cool summer days/fall. I've even been wearing it on warmer winter days and it's been great!

Soft jacket, perfect for cross country skiing and hiking. Lightweight but durable, and the end of the sleeves are really nice on your wrist. I love that I can tighten the hood so it doesn’t blow off.

Bought this for my wife in the black sapphire. She loved the color. It's more if a navy blue with a very muted purple interior. It's a good weight for an everyday jacket.

It is sooo lightweight. I didn't believe the reviews till I tried it myself. Gosh. Love the colours they have for it too. Cannot stop raving about it!

I love this jacket, it keeps me a comfortable temperature throughout the day. This jacket is lightweight, easy to layer, packs well and looks great!

Bought one four years ago and it’s my favorite jacket. First one in black, wanted another one and went for the maroon.

Such a great jacket for the cost. Very comfortable and very warm!

Can't beat this jacket. Lightweight, well worth the price.

I rarely write reviews but two years after I got this jacket, I feel like I owe it to it. I don't do a ton of outdoors stuff but my husband does and had the men's version of the jacket and loves it for that and recommended it to me. I had never spent this much money on a jacket, I historically just bought stuff from Target. Anyhow I've worn this jacket most days Spring-Fall in North Carolina and sometimes in winter. It is super lightweight and soft and feels great on my skin over a tank or t-shirt and is warm enough to wear like that in 50 F weather. I went camping recently in 30 F weather and it worked really well as a base layer. It is surprisingly warm when it's cold out and surprisingly airy when it warms up. I've recently picked up jogging and now that the weather is getting colder, I've been wearing it while running and it is perfect because of its warmth and light weight, and I find it easy and comfortable to tie around my waist when I get too warm running. I think I might get another one just to have another color option.

What's the best method for washing this jacket

The manufacturer recommends machine washing this hoodie in cold water on a gentle cycle and tumble drying on a low-heat, delicate setting. Do not bleach, iron, wring, or dry clean this hoodie.

Would this be a good jacket to bring for a trip up Mt. Shasta? I'll be going in mid-May.

This jacket is an excellent mid-layer choice to pair with a waterproof shell. For more gear recommendations, check out our climbing gear list for Mt. Shasta here:
