Osprey - Mira AG 34 Hydration Pack - Women's - 2.5 Liters

Category: Backpack

I hesitated buying this due to the price but now I am so glad that I did buy it! Tons of storage for a daypack. The pack distributes the weight so well that I don't even feel that I am carrying between 12-15 pounds when I go on longer hikes. I highly recommend this pack!

I received this bag a few days ago and after several try ons, sadly I had to return it. I’m 5’2” and 130 lbs and thought the xs/s would fit perfectly. Unfortunately, the hip belt was a problem and felt constricting despite my narrow hips. I love the construction of the bag and was sad it didn’t work for me. I would recommend trying this on in a store before buying because of the AG design of the hip belt. This bag is definitely not a one size fits all even though I qualify as a xs/s according to the sizing chart.

Definitely took all the weight off my shoulders which is a huge plus. Low back kinda ached with a simple hike which I’ve never experienced before which was weird since the pack was pretty empty. Like other people have commended, the frame does squeak. Hope this will stop once I break it in more. The pockets on the hip belt is too far back to really access things easily. Will keep hiking with it to see if squeak improves. If not, I’ll have to return it since it’s loud and right behind my ears. Love all the other pockets

I bought this pack for a very long hiking trip - 95 miles. From day 1, the pack squeaked loudly! It literally squeaked every step I took for the entire trip, so it was very frustrating. It was loud enough for other people to hear it. No matter how I changed up the weight and the straps, the sound never disappeared.

A very well constructed quality pack. I prefer the design to packs that have a large opening at the top with a cover over them, it is much easier to find and organize things. That said, it feels a little smaller than 34 liters. Built in rain cover and hydration are great features and an excellent value. Nice large water bottle pockets on the sides, easily fits a nalgene. The AG fit is... interesting. I'm not sold on it yet but some love it. The more layers you have on underneath the more difficult it is to get it to sit comfortably. Would definitely recommend trying it on first if you can.

I was looking for a good, comfotable pack that I can take on long day hikes that can carry my camera, food, and enough stuff for a long day oon the trail. This seems to meet my needs. It is very comfortable and I don't feel like I'm carrying as much weight as I am. My back usually get sore on long hikes, but not anymore. I love all the various pockets to put things and the bladder bag system is really nice. The only negative things I can think of is that the pouches on the waist belt are kind of far back and difficult to get into. It would be nioce if they could move those forward a little. Second item is it would be nice to have the little, mesh pockets on the shoulder straps like Osprey puts on several of thier other packs.

I bought this for a recent hiking trip in the alps, 10 miles a day, 2k climbs and descents. It worked perfectly. I actually tried 2 of these backpacks, and neither of them had the squeak some people have complained about. So maybe the problem has been fixed. I am 5.1”” and most backpacks did not sit right on my hip or poked me on the base of my head. This is so perfect for anyone under 5.3” Love the features to put your hiking pole, the magnetic holder for the water tube. Lots of pockets to keep things separate. Not a single complaint about it.

I have an Osprey Aura and love it. I was so excited to finally get a daypack with the AG suspension--I have a bad neck and Osprey's AG system makes backpacking possible for me. But when I tried this on, I was so disappointed. The hip belt on the Mira does NOT have the Fit-on-the-Fly adjustments like the Aura has. It is tight. I am a size 10 in pants and couldn't get the hip fins comfortably around me.

I have the Talon 22 for summer dayhikes and Aura 65 for backpacking but needed something bigger for winter dayhikes. This pack is perfect for all my needs and is amazingly comfortable. I haven't had the squeaking issues others have mentioned (fingers crossed!). The extra space on the outside is perfect for my snowshoes and I can easily store them or remove them without straps. The separate area for the hydration pack is convenient and makes it easier for refilling. I originally got the Manta (men's version) because I wanted the gray color but it was incredibly uncomfortable. I ended up with the turquoise women's version and am glad I got a more fun color! In any backpack, I highly recommend trying them out before buying, but REI has such a great return policy, I wouldn't hesitate to jump on a great deal on a great pack. The included raincover and hydration bladder makes this even a better deal when there is a sale price.

This is my second Osprey pack. I have a smaller men's Osprey pack and it hurts my shoulder. I will stick to the packs made for women. I love this pack. I hiked Mt Whitney with it for 20 hours. It served me well. I still wish the hip pockets were a tad bigger. Other than that, no complaints. The many pockets make accessing my belongings very easily.

I am not a fan of this pack BECAUSE of what I am looking for. Please keep in mind what you need for yourself when reading this review. The product itself held up well, but for a fastpacker/weekend hiker, this is not what I am looking for.

I bought this backpack thinking it was comparable to every other osprey I have bought in the past. The new design is not made for comfort for anyone larger than a size 6 or slim waisted. The hip part was not accommodating for wide set hips and the hip straps were so short that I could not adjust. They also changed the size of the hip strap to a thinner size which I did not like either. I did get the biggest size they offer which is a S/M.

I needed a bag that does everything and goes everywhere, and this has exceeded my expectations. I use it to tote my laptop, kickboxing gear (shin guards, huge gloves, wraps, headgear, mouthguard), and a change of clothes while riding my bike to and from work. My work laptop is a 15" MacBook. I put it in the water pouch compartment and it nicely nestles inside the pack frame, way under my gear so it seems well protected, even though the compartment isn't officially for a laptop. I think you could fit it with a neoprene sleeve if you wanted more cushion, too. Having the backpacking frame/hipbelts to take my computer's weight off my shoulders means that I can commute by bike finally, since that strain prevented me from doing so regularly with a traditional backpack. Since it gets full I was worried it would be top-heavy, but everything tightens down so well that it stays really stable. I only have a bit of wobble from it when I'm dismounting my bike and now that I know to expect that one shift it's totally fine. On the weekends I weight it down and go for day hikes to train for backpacking. It's amazing in both contexts. I really enjoy the water bottle holders - they're on both sides, can stow bottles upright while biking or sideways for easy access hiking, and the straps will tighten down over the bottle either way. The pockets on the hip belt are large enough to stow my phone (Pixel with case) easily. I have had a bit of trouble with the hipbelt pocket's zipper being difficult to close. One other review I read mentioned this, too. That only happens if the pocket is mostly empty, and it seems to be getting easier with a little breaking-in. Having a full pocket or reaching across and pulling the zip with my opposite hand gives me no trouble. For all that I get out of the bag, I don't mind having to adapt to this one minor inconvenience.

I did have the noise others mentioned but I hope it will go away when it's broken in. I wanted more then a daypack and this will work well. The weight is well distributed and I can cinch it down when I don't need as much room. The hydration part is easy to access.

After returning the Sirrus 24 (I hear it’s a great pack... not for me) I was despairing in my endeavor to find a midsize pack that could be cinched down to nothing but pack up a wallop if needed. I have tried AG suspension packs from Osprey before and everytime putting one on was like wrestling an amorous octopus from the confines of a straight jacket, it was downright claustrophobic. After trying just about ALL the packs at REI, it went like this: I would try this one, the Mira 34 and give up, since I didn’t expect it to fit. Well, fit, it does!

I picked up this pack because I was in need of something bigger than my old pack, but still light and comfortable. This pack is the perfect solution to that. Even when it’s fully loaded, it’s super light and it doesn’t feel like you’re carrying anything. I also love the hydration reservoir that comes with it, it’s lightweight and easy to refill! I know some people have had complaints about this pack squeaking, but I haven’t experienced a single squeak when hiking with this pack. I definitely recommend!

I like the backpack but every time I move it’s making this noise which is very annoying so I returned it

I use this pack for day hiking. I'm really sensitive to fit and weight when I hike. This pack holds plenty of water (3L), has lots of storage for a jacket, snacks, etc and even has a waist belt. The only thing that could make it better for me is to add a touch more support on the waist belt and a little more adjustment for the load. I realize I'm very unusual to need these features for such a small pack but I'm just sensitive. It is a great pack.

I was hesitant about buying this because the pack itself is heavier than some of the others I was looking at, and with a bad back, hip, and knees, I usually like to start off as light as possible. I wasn't sure how much of a difference the structure of it would make, but one of the helpful employees help me fit the pack and adjust all the many straps I didn't even realize were there, and threw in some weight sacks so I can get a better feel of how it would feel on the trail. I compared this one with the Skimmer 30 with the same amount of weights, and this was WAY more comfortable for my lower back by a LONGSHOT. The structure of this takes a ton of pressure off of your lower back. It is just enough to keep it very supported, but also fits to your body like a glove. Was hesitant at first also because of the price but to me, it is 100% worth it.

I am 5'7" ~140lbs, I do not live near an rei store and decided to take a chance with ordering online. I got the s/m as I am a bit on the taller side. This pack is super comfortable and fits pretty great though the straps are tightened all the way and do feel a bit loose still (maybe should have went with the xs?). I have taken this pack out on several hikes now with pretty heavy loads and have not had any pain or discomfort.

the pack itself is great. lots of organization features and the padded hip fins are my favorite. however the plastic loop on the hydration bladder broke the 3rd time I used it. it's a pretty flimsy design and I'm sure the same thing would happen again if I were to replace it so instead I end up filling water bottles for the side pockets. all in all, great pack but not a great hydration pack.

I got this pack hoping it wouldn't hurt my back like my Camelbak started to do. I've loaded it up with 3L of water plus snowshoeing equipment/clothing and no issues. It does a great job distributing the weight so NO MORE back issues. Love it! Looking forward to using it on a 3 night backpacking trip to Havasupai this spring

My husband and I both have this pack and the male version and we absolutely love them. We camp anywhere from 6-10 days a month, and hike 20-30 miles a month (so more than your average person). These are very comfortable, pack more than we need for our day hikes, and is just a great all-round pack.

I have enjoyed using this hydration backpack. I love all the pockets and what it can hold: Rain jacket & rain pants in case of rain, long sleeve and light jacket as you peel off during the day, extra water on the outside pockets, emergency blanket and emergency medication pack, sun glasses, snacks, and many more. The hydration bladder is a plus, easy to detach and attach when filling water. The backpack feels light even with about 15 pounds; I was able to go 8 to 10 miles at high altitude and barely feel the weight. The one thing that bothered me is the squeaking noise the backpack makes during use. The squeaking noise is nonstop, more so when the pack is full with weight and movement. I bought this pack to go on the Inca trail trek to Machu Picchu with REI, it served its purpose well, just the pack I needed, though the noise wasn't welcomed. Thus I gave it a four rather than a five star. I did see that someone else has that experience too. If anyone knows how to fix that, please share.

Just returned from 14 days in Peru. I used this every day while trekking & for day hikes. I bought the s/med size. Fits my 5'9" body perfectly. Loved how much it can hold if needed and the airspace between my back & the pack. Love all the pockets. Highly recommend.

This pack really has it all. It is comfortable, and - if necessary - holds a ton of stuff. Didn’t bother my shoulders or hips. The water/camel is easy to use. So glad to have this pack!

Can you put a laptop in the hydration pocket?

Although the hydration sleeve is not specifically designed for laptops, it should be able to fit most small laptops.

Other than size, how does this pack compare with the Osprey Skimmer 30?e

The Mira AG 34 has a slightly larger gear capacity and weighs about a pound more. The Mira AG 34 also 3mm alloy frame as opposed to the foam framesheet on the Skimmer. This gives the Mira the ability to better accommodate heavier loads.

Can the sternum strap be adjusted up or down?

Yes, the sternum strap can be adjusted up or down.

I love this pack. But is there anything I can do about the squeaking? I was hoping it would go away after putting some miles on it, but no such luck. It comes from the top of the frame as mentioned in the reviews. Please help.

You might try applying a silicone based lubricant to the area that is squeaking.

Do you carry the newest model of this pack? Thanks!

Does the bag have loops to carry ice axe and trekking poles? Thank you!

This pack does have Osprey's Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment. The pack does not have an ice axe attachment point.

Does this pack with a water reservoir or does it need to be purchased separately? Would a 3 liter reservoir fit?

The 2.5 liter reservoir is included. A 3 liter reservoir will also fit.

How is this pack in extreme heat/humidity (Costa Rica)? The suspension system looks different than my old Osprey backpack, which really held the pack away from my back for ventilation.

The 3D tensioned mesh back provides excellent ventilation.

Hi, hiking Mt. Whitney next year. Sierra Mt. Center suggested a 30 liter daypack for women that can carry a sleeping bag. I'm interested in a daypack that not only does that but could also be a hydration pack and carry my trekking poles. No Ice pic.

This pack is a great option for the use you described.

Is this pack TSA compliant as a carry on.

Yes, this is smaller than the maximum volume acceptable for carry-on restrictions.

Just purchased this, but I'm unhappy with not being able to reach back to the side pockets to get my water bottle while hiking. So, I was wondering, is this a torso size problem? Anyways, I see that the torso is adjustable...but how do you adjust it?

The Mira AG 34 Hydration Pack does not have an adjustable suspension. We will have our site corrected soon.

Will my iPhone 6s plus fit in the zippered hip belt pockets?

An iPhone 6s Plus will not fit inside the hipbelt pocket of the Mira AG 34 Hydration Pack. An iPhone 5s is the biggest iPhone that will fit.
